We always get the question, what is esports?

Essentially, it’s competitive video gaming. It is the fastest-growing participation activity for ages 12-21 globally.

Did You Know? There are over 200 colleges that offer scholarships to gamers.

The games played at the collegiate level can range from team-oriented multiplayer online battle arenas, like League of Legends, to single-player first-person shooters, like Call of Duty. They also include survival battle royales, like Fortnite, or virtual reconstructions of physical sports, like Madden.

Like traditional sports, many colleges offer esports at three levels, varsity, club, and intramural. Esports can help fund a portion of your education and provide you with an excellent opportunity to meet new people and gain connections for your future.

Contender eSports Hudson Valley manages the only in-house esports league in the mid-Hudson region, where the local high schools and middle schools practice and compete at our facility. We’ve connected these players with local universities and have created a pathway for these students. A few of our students have already received scholarship offers!
